In general, a generation is defined by the technology changes over a 10- to 15-year period, so 4G refers to whatever will be deployed in the 20102015 time frame.

Radio broadcasters have been urged to venture into High Definition (HD), digital and Internet radio or face the risk of being “tuned out” by listeners who are no longer just receivers of content, but senders too.
Media futurist Gerd Leonhard, while addressing delegates at the RadioAsia2006 conference in Singapore last week, said that audience growth now lies in interactive services and broadcasters had to be quick to capitalise on this phenomenon.

Last week’s Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers’ Cable Tec-Expo in Denver saw at least two product announcements that could accelerate the throughput of data in cable systems to the 100 Mbps range.
