Karlex Brings His New Afro Groove Music to the World

By Mark Kirby, It has been said by many that there is nothing new in music, that it's all been done before; all that is left is to adopt a past style, a past sound of music and wear it like a retro outfit from a vintage clothing store. That certainly appears to be true when almost every hyped band makes this old school music head (and a lot of new schoolers, too) think "where have I been bored by this before?" Summer's here and the time is right, for dancing in the streets! Or
something like that. It's hot as hell out, but you're not going to hear
us freeze-babies complaining. Nooo way. We take solace in the kiddie
pool, enjoy the warm summer breezes on the back yard hammock, and while
we might bitch at the occasional fly attempting to partake of our
margaritas, we will recall that not so long ago it was freezing and
ya'll were bitching that you were cold. So, if you can't stand the heat
get in front of your computer with a nice oscillating fan and see what
we've got cooking at Score!

"Frampton Comes Alive", a photograph taken in 1974 by Richard E. Aaron, used on the cover of Peter Frampton's 1976 2-record set titled "Frampton Comes Alive", released on A&M Records by Mike Goldstein, The biggest-selling live double album of all time (such a big-seller that, in the movie "Wayne's World 2", Mike Myers' character Wayne states that "everybody in the world has 'Frampton Comes Alive'. If you lived in the suburbs, you were issued it free along with samples of Tide."), the record made Frampton, who'd made a name for himself as a "teen idol" in the UK with his band The Herd and then with his guitar chops both in the studio and with the band Humble Pie, a household name. His band's powerful live performances, as well as his use of the "Talk Box" effects device, made hit singles of songs such as "Show Me The Way" and "Do You Feel Like We Do". |
