The BPI blames downloading for a fall in UK single sales
British record companies are to start suing people
who share music illegally on the internet. The British Phonographic Industry
(BPI) will announce its first legal actions on Thursday, having monitored
unofficial sites where music is shared.
Despite growing up nearly half a continent away from the bands they were inspired by the Black Crowes, Beck, Masters of Reality, and Radiohead are some obvious influences‹the Dutch four-piece known as Cafebar 401 gone beyond being yet another band that sounds like every other homogenized pop band. The band, made up of Martijn Masman on bass, Dennis Kleinlangevelsloo on guitar, Wout Oosterwechel on drums, and vocalist Tije Oortwijn, manages to blend the elements of hard rock, dance, and glam to create some of the most exciting music to hit the airwaves in years.
Tips for Indie Artists - The Cleavers and Computer Technology
The Cleavers' debut CD, Television Mind, not only depends on great original music written and performed by the band (even if I do say so myself!), but also computer technology that allowed our band to record and promote this CD with less cost and total control. This melding of science and art has created new opportunities for the independent artist. The Cleavers have been able to master the various tasks needed to record, manufacture and promote this CD by taking advantage of these computer technologies:
There are bands who focus on production, there are singers and bands who are occupied with finding radio hooks, and there are singer-songwriters who write from the inside and let success fall where it may. Marianne Kesler's new release, Green Room, is the latter (maybe with the pinch of "hooks" thrown in for self-satisfaction).
