Ralph Lalama Quartet Releases Jazz CD Energy Fields
All four men are well-known veterans in jazz circles and have played on numerous recordings over the years with well-known performers. The leader Ralph Lalama, a tenor sax legend in his own right, is a seasoned recording artist with an enviable resume. Lalama has experience on the New York jazz scene and around the globe through his associations with such luminary bands as the Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra (formerly the Thad Jones /Mel Lewis Orchestra - with whom he has played since 1983), the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, and the Joe Lovano Nonet.
Energy Fields is the first album for the quartet. The CD offers nine tracks of mostly traditional jazz and transformed pop tunes with the inclusion of one Lalama original “Nonchalant.†The album gives all jazz purists hope for a second outing that will be just as pleasing. Ralph is joined by veterans John Hart (guitar), Rick Petrone (bass) and Joe Corsello (drums). The focus of their maiden voyage was to cover some of their favorite tracks to articulate their love and respect for the artists that were significant in their development.
The jazz world is buzzing over the release of Energy Fields and the rave reviews are pouring in every day. Visit The Ralph Lalama Quartet’s website for updates, pictures, touring information and more.
