by Mark Kirby, The picture on the front of her CD Cover to Cover shows singer songwriter Julie Moffitt covered with a bed sheet and smiling unselfconsciously at the viewer. This image, in its simple honesty, is appropriate for her CD. In addition to recording original material, Moffitt decided to include songs by other artists that she loves and have inspired her. Indeed, all people learn by imitating others and for artists it is even more important. As the great Salvador Dali once said, "Those who do not want to imitate anything, produce nothing."

Toronto-based, roots-calypso act Kobo Town is capping a pivotal year with their debut album 'Independence' being selected in Exclaim! Magazine "Year in Review 2007." Voted a Top 10 "Groove" Album of 2007, following Amy Winehouse and M.I.A, Independence was the only album by an unsigned act in the category. The band was also recognized by the 2007 Toronto Exclusive Magazine Awards with a Best World Song Award for "Corbeaux Following."

"Madness" -- a song by Afro Groove artist Karlex from his debut CD 'Ghetto Fabulous' -- was featured in the PBS documentary series Road Trip Nation; episode "Team Big starts off their trip in New York City." This is in addition to two documentary film placements in France, including "Let's Harmonize" on a documentary about Les Halles in Paris and "I've got news" in a documentary being finished about the Fondation Mérieux.
