DJ Wally & DJ Rocking Dave hosted The Marathon Party show
Marathon 2007 Sponsored by SME Communications Ltd
Alison and Harry of The Manner House stepped in at the last moment to rescue
this event from certain
disaster after bureaucracy prevented it from proceeding on the Middlefield Road
Green, as advertised.
There was a great party atmosphere with music and the usual fun banter between
Wally and Rocking Dave. A steady stream of visitors attended throughout the show
making full use of the facilities of the house. Not only did Alison and Harry
allow access to the ballroom, bar area and sumptuous grounds of The Manor House,
they also extended their hospitality to the use of the large outdoor swimming
pool and barbeque for those that brought food requiring heating.
It was estimated that the show attracted approximately 70 guests, some of which got to speak live on air. Many of the guests remained after the end of the live show, partying away into the earlier evening.
Show featured live acts, something rarely before heard on RGW, that included The Pink Chics on the left, Colette on the right and a duet between DJ Wally and wife, Jan the Legend. Colette sang a couple of well known covers before surprising the guests with a brand new track of her own called ‘Strong’. This was very well received by the audience and RGW listeners tuned in around the world.

Tim & Dee expressed an interest in this talented young woman, inviting her to
submit material for inclusion in future follow up albums to ‘Around The World in
60 Minutes, Volume 1’ RGW’s first publicly released album of Indie and Unsigned
artists.

A side show out in the grounds of the house was the popular TV game show ‘Play
Your Cards Right’, hosted by Mr Alan Higgs. This involved players
working their
way across a board of 7 cards from left to right, guessing whether the next card
is higher or lower in value then the previous one. There were prizes for players
that got all the way across the board. Jan the Legend was just one of the
players that was successful in revealing all 7 cards.
The weather was kind all day long and the party and live radio show ran from
beginning to end hitch free.
On behalf of Radio Gets Wild DJ Wally and DJ Rocking Dave wish to thank Alison & Harry for granting the permission to use their Manor House which provided the ideal backdrop for turning an internet radio show into a very special day enjoyed by many people.
