Mariachi Sensation To Pop Princess
Victoria Acosta, a 12-year-old seventh-grader from San Antonio, Texas, will soon shoot the music video for her first single, The World's Gone Crazy - a fun, funky and dance-driven pop song that is already getting the attention of some of the country's most powerful radio programming executives. Her yet-to-be-released debut CD Once Upon A Time is filled with hard-charging Pop anthems seasoned with Hip Hop and R&B instrumentation that showcase the big voice of this little girl from the Lone Star State.
In 2000, Victoria was selected from among hundreds of young singers, including college music majors, to earn the title of Best Mariachi Music Vocalist in the United States at the Ford and Lincoln Mercury Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza. She was 8.
In May 2004, Victoria's parents agreed to sign her to Miami-based Covert Entertainment, headed by CEO Jeff Durand. Soon after, Victoria embarked on the first of five rigorous recording sessions. Within a few short months, she had completed laying down vocal tracks for Once Upon A Time, a compilation of very radio and club friendly, danceable, high-energy Pop tunes coupled with several inspirational, thought-provoking and gentle ballads, done with a style and sound that is uniquely Victoria Acosta.
With the release of Once Upon A Time, Victoria will be the youngest formally trained Mariachi singer to debut as a pop artist. Victoria is expected to make live appearances via Radio Disney and other event organizers across South Texas before stepping into the national arena.
Sam Johnson's Multiple Musical Personalities Revealed On Debut CD Rhythm 'n' Roll
Sam Johnson's first release is titled Rhythm'n'Roll, emphasizing the CD's musical romp across various styles of R&B and rock. Imagine Outkast's Andre 3000, R. Kelly, Charlie Pride and Lenny Kravitz all on one CD, and you might approach Rhythm 'n' Roll. Unafraid to take risks, Sam creates innovative combinations of urban, rock and even country styles.
Sam decribes himself as an urban, rock and a little country artist. In the age of mp3s, where people mix all kinds of music, this CD has songs for almost any mood you're in. It's the first CD made for the mp3 enthusiast.
Vocally, Sam reminds one of David Byrne (Talking Heads) in his melodic sense and playful quirkiness. There is satire ("I'm in her little pink book..."), heartfelt love ("Just Before I Fell In Love", "Have to Love You", "Vitamin U") and lots of humor ("get the funk out of D.C., and into your part of the country") in the lyrics.
What's amazing is two people produced most of the music on the CD. All songs except one are written by Sam Johnson, who sings them all. John Krauss is an accomplished guitartist, taking us through all of the genres with aplomb. All songs are arranged and performed with John Krauss, co-producer, co-mixer, and engineer. Because of this duo there is consistency in the inconsistency from genre to genre. Add the horns by Sergey Yershov on "Vitamin U," and acoustic guitar by writer Peter Doyle on "The Only Way" and co-writer of "As Far As The Eye Can See," and you've met all of the players.
The Voice from the "Passion of Christ" Releases "Passionate Voice"
Lisbeth Scott, the soloist and co-lyricist for the influential and inspiring hit film "The Passion of the Christ", has released her newest CD "Passionate Voice". With the original music she brings to her latest solo CD, Lisbeth creates styles and sentiments that both move and mesmerize.
"Passionate Voice" is all about spirit and will soothe and uplift every cell of your being. Produced by Lisbeth and the talented Nathan Barr (cellos, guitars, bol bol, ocarina), the music on this recording is a tapestry of textures and sounds. Greg Ellis (percussion), Chris Bleth (duduk), Bernie Locker (guitars) and Dan Lutz (Bass) graced the music with their presence and help make this CD "... nothing short of a holy experience" according to New Age Retailer.
Lisbeth's newest recording "Passionate Voice" follows her work with composer John Debney as a soloist and co-lyricist on the monumental film "The Passion of The Christ", the soundtrack for which she recently garnered her 1st gold record. One of Hollywood's most in-demand session vocalists, Lisbeth's singing voice has been enjoyed by millions in hit films and TV shows including Touch By An Angel.
Gaz Reynolds was arrested in December 2004 and released on bail after a psychotic fan accused him of harassing her. The fan, who had been stalking him for some time had managed to get his home address and phone number and kept calling him saying she loved him!
Months later her obsession became anger when she received nothing but rejections from the UK Pop Star who lives in London and is currently recording his latest album 'ORGAZMIC'.
Gaz said; "For legal reasons I can not discuss all of the case, however I can tell you the Police have dropped all charges against me and they are carrying out further enquiries into this individual's background. This problem has gone on for a number of months and I'm glad the truth has finally come out at last". Gaz has taken out an injunction against the fan to further prevent any repercussions and keep her away from his property.
The UK Pop Sensation who has been taking the world by storm with his own unique style of dance music said; "Unfortunately, when you are a well known public figure you have to some times deal with such unpleasant situations from certain attention seeking people who will stoop to any level to get a response. I have had similar problems before from fans but not to this extent. It was a very unpleasant experience".
TDK Introduces Recordable DVD And CD Media Featuring Hewlett-Packard LightScribe Technology
TDK, a world leader in digital recording announced it has entered into a licensing agreement with Hewlett-Packard (HP) that authorizes TDK to provide TDK-branded recordable DVD and CD media featuring HP's proprietary LightScribe Direct Disc Labeling technology. LightScribe technology enables laser etched silkscreen-quality labels on DVDs and CDs with the same drive that records the data. Customers simply burn the data side of a disc, flip the disc over and then burn text and graphics on the label side.
Chris Bailey, TDK Director of Recording Media, noted, "TDK recordable DVD and CD media featuring LightScribe technology makes it exceptionally easy for our customers to create custom-labeled discs with a professionally produced appearance." He continued, "Because no extra supplies are required, TDK discs with LightScribe are an especially affordable and convenient alternative to using a labeling kit and consuming expensive printer ink."
LightScribe recordable discs can be used in computers with burners that are already configured for use with LightScribe media, or consumers can separately purchase a LightScribe-enabled burner for installation into a computer they already own. Because the same laser is used to both record and label the disc, LightScribe-enabled drives are attractively priced.

TrustyFiles truly is High Performance File Sharing software."

CATERINE: Fear-Pain-Love, Lost And Found
Rock guitarist, Jimmy Caterine, releases CATERINE: Fear-Pain-Love following the disasters that inundated the world beginning Dec. 26, 2004 which have caused fear and pain to millions but have also caused us to put aside our political differences in a show of love for mankind.
Jimmy Dee Caterine is best known as the founder of underground heavy metal outfit from Hawaii, Sacred Rite. In the years since Sacred Rite's demise, Caterine continued playing and recording but spent 2000-2003 recovering from several mishaps, including a severe car accident.
Fear-Pain-Love is the guitarists second solo release, even though it was intended to be his first. His original basic tracks for the project were recorded in the mid 90's but in '97, when he prepared to complete the project, the master tapes turned up missing. His reaction to this dilemma caused him to create an altogether different disc, Cognition, which indicates that Caterine has the gift of vision. Freelance writer Michael Popke stated in a review that, "Caterine's fluid sense of melody and exceptional flair for aural details borders on the miraculous."

Oasis Mastering Undergoes Major Upgrade
Moving to meet the increasing needs of the modern mastering marketplace, Studio City, Ca. based Oasis Mastering has installed 3 networked Cube-Tec Audio Cube mastering systems along with a secure FTP server for remote file transfer. The new AudioCube systems give Oasis the ability to operate at audiophile sample rates up to 192kHz as well as easily handle any surround formats. The FTP server allows clients who can't physically attend the session to instantly and securely send files to Oasis, then receive the finished product back for checking or have it digitally sent directly to the pressing plant.
"We're cautious about doing major upgrades," explains chief engineer Eddy Schreyer. "We want to be sure that whatever we add will give our clients the highest quality product possible and not be just the flavor of the month. That's why we love our AudioCubes so much. They give us the ability to add some extra punch and warmth, and even some additional level that we just couldn't get with our previous setup. Plus, since we're getting more calls for surround mastering, now we can easily handle any 5.1 work for DVD or theatrical releases."
One of the first mastering facilities to add FTP delivery, Oasis saw another way to further enhance their clients mastering experience. "We originally installed our FTP server to make element delivery easier for our international clients," states mastering engineer Gene Grimaldi, "but we've found that our domestic clients love it as well. Our server makes file transfer both fast and extremely secure, which is enormously important in our new digital world."
