Echoes, A Nightly Radio Soundscape Airing On Over 150 Stations, Welcomes Blow Up Hollywood In Support Of Their Current Release Fake

New York City's Blow Up Hollywood, whose name is a backlash to the excesses of glitter marketing in media, will play a set for the renowned Echoes radio program which reaches across the US on over 150 radio stations. The band will perform a customized set for Echoes out of Indre Studios in Philadelphia on August 27 to be broadcast during the week of September 15. Information on where the show airs can be found at www.echoes.org. The band is planning on recording the set for later release.

Blow Up Hollywood's self-released second album, Fake, features songs hosting a spectacle of highly accomplished musicians, including musical visionary, Steve Messina and Julliard Scholar Dave Eggar. The band creates a huge orchestral wall of sound with blissful string arrangements and poignant vocals making each track a requiem. Blow Up Hollywood is best taken as a whole as the band's song concepts overwhelmingly replete their albums.

Sidestepping the ordinary, the band's live show is a mixed media event with the staging of a self-produced film being run on a screen while the band score it live, almost secretly in the dark.

Blow Up Hollywood
LIVE DATES
Wednesday, Sept.1 New York City Sin-e
Saturday, Sept. 18 New York City Tribeca Rock Club

Pirates And Bootleggers Beware - First Intellectual Property Crime Strategy Published

The MCPS Anti-Piracy Unit is supporting a new Government initiative to crackdown on the trade in fake goods. Industry Minister, Jacqui Smith unveiled the UK's first intellectual property (IP) crime strategy in London on 10 August.

The national strategy, developed by the Patent Office, brings together brand owners, police, trading standards and customs to:
* increase the sharing of intelligence between different agencies;
* improve training for those working at the front-line;
* better co-ordinate the agencies involved in the fight against intellectual property crime; and
* monitor progress and success by publishing an annual national enforcement report.

Jacqui Smith, Industry Minister, said: "Pirates and bootleggers cheat consumers and place a drain on our economy. We cannot and we will not simply turn a blind eye to copyright and trade mark crime."

"Intellectual property crime is not victimless. As well as cheating consumers, the trade in counterfeit goods costs UK companies billions of pounds and thousands of jobs every year. That is why we are working together with industry and law enforcement agencies to clamp down on this illegal trade."

Alliance Against Counterfeiting & Piracy Welcomes National IP Crime Strategy

The Alliance welcomes the National IP Crime Strategy launched today by the Government and Patent Office. It is vitally important that Government, industry and enforcement bodies work together to ensure consumers and business are properly protected and not exploited by organised crime. Counterfeiting and piracy is growing and the measures outlined today will go a long way in combating this criminal activity. By sharing information and intelligence it will become more difficult for counterfeiters and pirates to operate - meaning consumers will be better protected, organised crime will be disrupted, and industry will stop losing billions of pounds a year.

Rachael Lampa Release Self-Titled Album

Now nineteen years old and with several years of recording and touring experience under her belt, Rachael Lampa is coming into her own as an artist. Performing with her band and interacting with her fans has helped shape her musical direction and has inspired her songwriting.

For the first time in her career, Rachael has co-written every song on this self-titled project, her third studio album. Life experiences over the past few years have left Rachael wanting to communicate something from her heart to her generation. Both musically and lyrically, she accomplishes that on this album in a fresh and innovative way. In the song "Rubber House," Rachael admonishes us to 'accept others and love them as ourselves,' while the message of "You Never Know" is 'give God the control to lead your life because he has a plan for each one of us.' "No Other One" is essentially a worship song, 'worship goes beyond big words and music; it is an intimate encounter with God.'

Produced by Grammy award-winning music legend Tommy Sims, this album features a variety of styles from pop to rock to funk to modern adult contemporary, while continually showcasing Rachael's incredible vocal abilities.

BPI Welcomes Government Crackdown On IP Theft

The UK recorded music industry's association the BPI (British Phonographic Industry) today welcomed the Patent Office's increasing commitment to fighting the escalating problem of intellectual property (IP) theft - piracy and counterfeiting - in unveiling the UK's first IP crime strategy.

"Counterfeiting is a massive problems for the recorded music industry" says BPI Director of Anti-Piracy David Martin "a huge amount of investment goes into developing new acts and piracy makes that investment that much harder to make" "It's not the established acts that suffer the most at the hands of music pirates - it's the new artists who rely on that investment to kick-start their careers"

The chairman of EMI Group, Eric Nicoli, is the music industry representative on the Government's recently founded Creative Industries IP Forum. He said: "We are very encouraged that the Government is taking steps to help Britain's creative industries tackle the theft of intellectual property and we welcome this latest enforcement initiative from the Patent Office."

Winners Of The August 2004 Golden Mic Award

BLUISH: Bluish is a rock band with a flute. In a musical world overloaded with bands that imitate other bands, Bluish is a breath of fresh air. Their music first gets in your face and then gets stuck in your head. A powerful rhythm section combining driving guitars, melodic bass, and aggressive drumming force the listener to feel good and get moving. Contagious flute hooks round out the Bluish sound making it something you truly have never heard before. By the time the male/female harmony vocals kick in, you begin to wonder why no other band has ever done this before. The answer is... because no one else can.

JOHNNY NEEL: Johnny was Grammy nominated for his keyboard work as an Allman Brothers Band member on the instrumental cut, 'True Gravity" from the "Seven Turns" LP. A man with boundless energy, Johnny still manages to juggle studio work, local club gigs, road work and hit song writing, and somehow maintains his sanity. Referring to his hectic life, Johnny says, " They say you can't do it all; Hell, I'm trying to prove 'em wrong!"

LARRY EDOFF: Larry Edoff is an introspective and dynamic musician whose dedication to music has brought him originality and success as an accomplished bandleader, singer/songwriter, composer, and pianist. Larry has performed with great artists such as Tony Bennett, The Count Basie Orchestra, Vinny Valentino, Matt Garrison, John Benitez, Jarrod Cagwin, Adam Rogers, Jeff Andrews, Bill Moring, Steve Wilson, Richard Bona and many others.

WCH Radio's CEO Joins Urscene Records

WCH Radio's John O'Day has joined the staff of Urscene Records as one of their A&R consultants. "This has been a whirlwind year for WCH Radio, coming on the heels of our successful launch of our new station The Wave". O'Day said.

Urscene Records, based in Washington, D.C., is the Internet's only record label, and has recently signed Grammy award winner Sir Mix-A-Lot to the label. One thing I like about Urscene records O'Day continues, is they have decided to open the label to all styles of music, which of course has been WCH Radio's mainstay.

O'Day will remain as head of WCH Radio, The Wave, and Next Step Promotions. "I'm really looking forward to working with Urscene Records and all of the talented indie artists both in the U.S. and abroad. I am hoping that this new position will further our mission to assist indie artists as WCH Radio and Next Step Promotions has over the years". O'Day said.
