Skyla Spencer Armed Forces Entertainment takes country crooner on 1st overseas tour Country Artist, Skyla Spencer, recently returned to Nashville from an Armed Forces Entertainment tour. Skyla was selected from hundreds of singers to be the sole headline performer on this tour in the Pacific. Skyla and her band, The Nashville Navigate-hers, traveled to Guam, Japan, Singapore, and Diego Garcia during the month of December.
Skyla SpencerPerforming a total of 13 two hour shows, Skyla lit up the stage with her high energy shows, incorporating dance with her singing. Skyla met many men and women serving in the military. She performed at Navy, Army, Marine, and Air Force bases. Many soldiers, when off duty, came and watched the shows and were very excited about having a country artist from home. Skyla spent hours after each show autographing pictures and meeting and talking with the soldiers. She also hung out with some of the men and women in the military and was able to hear the stories and see what all they do. She visited some of the radio stations on the bases where she did live interviews and talked about her career and the tour. “I had much to cheer about on this tour", says Skyla. “Everyone was amazing and made me feel so welcome.” Speaking of cheer, Skyla also met the Indianapolis Colt Cheerleaders at Camp Zama, one of the military bases in Japan. The Cheerleaders attended one of Skyla’s shows. Skyla, a former high school and college cheerleader herself, was excited to meet and talk with the squad.

Skyla says, “This tour was an experience of a lifetime and was truly amazing. To give something back to the troops and show them how much I appreciate what they do was so gratifying. Words cannot really explain the feeling I had when I stepped on stage for the first time. The audiences were great, and they were so appreciative of us being there. Bringing a little home to them was my main goal for this tour. Opening every show with the National Anthem and then kicking off with Sweet Home Alabama really pumped up the crowd. Throughout each show I would mix in my original material from my first album, You Said You’d Call Me, as well as all time country favorites and even some rock. Each country I visited had something unique to offer. All the people I met were so kind and made us feel welcome. I loved learning about the different cultures. While in Singapore, I visited the Hard Rock Cafe, where I was asked to join the musicians on the stage for a couple of songs. It was a wonderful time and the audience at the Hard Rock was great!”

Returning a few days later than expected, Skyla arrived at the Nashville airport on Dec. 23rd, just in time for Christmas. Skyla says, “I could have kept going and going. The soldiers were so amazing and I will never forget the love & gratitude they showed me. I would do this again in a heartbeat.”
