San Francisco, CA-May 11, 2010- What does one do when they are compelled to change a life decision and go in an entirely new direction? For most the answer is right in front of them but unfortunately a large number do not have the vision to create their own true destiny.

For the indie artist and multi talented musician Jhameel it was a natural transition from almost joining the Army to going into the studio to fulfill the longing to create. The self titled Jhameel is now ready for the world to embrace it.

From shaking a bag of marbles to utilizing the violin, trumpet, glockenspiel, percussion, guitar, and vocals to create intricate arrangements, Jhameel produces a unique full sounding ensemble. This is a compelling recording that is bound to turn some heads.

Even though the atmospheric sounds Jhameel creates may be unfamiliar to some listeners it has warmth that permeates the senses with clever blends of orchestral instruments, makeshift percussion, pop vocal melodies, and ambient synthesizers. The lyrics on Jhameel become the soul mate of the music and bring forth such topics as Middle Eastern womanhood, homosexuality, and urban prostitution, giving a voice to the otherwise silent majorities of society. Will this create controversy or have people shout taboo? That may be the case in some corners of the world but in music it’s a freeform universe of creative energy that this unique artist makes his home.

Tracks such as “Hello Cash”, which is driven by acoustics and then a random splash of water and silverware colliding in “Opium and the Royal Children” will intrigue your aural sensitivity and change the way you think about music in its entirety. “Androgynous” which is earmarked as a single off the album, features a bag of marbles as percussion while the violin and acoustic guitar elements provide the ambiance and flavor of the track, supporting the catchy yet simple vocals.

In order to perform multiple instruments at once, the artist records musical phrases on stage using a loop station. He then adds additional layers to the songs by playing over himself. This is when duplication is a blessing for a solo artist.

Jhameel is quite simply, artistic bliss set to music and sound.
