What brought everyone together as one band?

[Rolando Sanchez & Salsa Hawaii] The Music that we play, the way people have supported the band throughout the many years in Hawaii.

How would you describe your music and playing style?

[Rolando Sanchez & Salsa Hawaii] A mixture of Contemporary-Latin-Afro-Cuban-Jazz-Salsa-Tropical... As an individual my style is very International, and as a band we do have a very nice blend of musicians that help create the Salsa Hawaii sound!

What image do you think your music conveys?

[Rolando Sanchez & Salsa Hawaii] An image of happiness, uplifting, good for listening or dancing to latin music in Paradise!

Who are some of the other artists that you enjoy or draw inspiration from?

How are your live shows different from listening to your CD?

[Rolando Sanchez & Salsa Hawaii] Not much, we try to always sound as clean and tight live as we do on our Cd's that really works well with our audiences as they enjoy the songs as they have heard them on radio or Cd's.

What type of fans to you target/cater to?

[Rolando Sanchez & Salsa Hawaii] In my case, here in Honolulu it is so International that we do get to perform for people from all over the planet. I would love for my music to be heard and appreciated by everyone that gets the chance to hear it.

Now that Latin music has become a staple genre in terms of popularity, where does your group fit in?

[Rolando Sanchez & Salsa Hawaii] I have been playing and performing Latin music of all the different styles since the early 1970's, so all the influences of the times have molded my music to fit right in the styles that currently popular with audiences worldwide.

In what ways are you promoting your music?

[Rolando Sanchez & Salsa Hawaii] Many ways, concerts, radio, TV. magazines and live interviews.

How do you use the Internet to promote your music?

[Rolando Sanchez & Salsa Hawaii] I use as a tool to let and share with everyone in the Internet families our music, our band and our Aloha!

What difficulties have you encountered as an independent band?

[Rolando Sanchez & Salsa Hawaii] 1. Having legal representation.
2. Getting a decent and honest recording contract and or agreement.
3. Dealing with all types of Managersa and Booking agents and so on...

What does the future hold for your band?

[Rolando Sanchez & Salsa Hawaii] Im looking forward to the completion of my new CD "HONOLULU TROPICAL" hopefully by the summer 2004. and to be able to continue to share my music with everyone!
