San Francisco, CA-June 22, 2009- With The Forbidden City CD making its way around the world recently, the band The Autonomous Region is making waves with their original sound and compelling message.

The Autonomous Region of Mindanao is a region of the Philippines that has historically and fiercely resisted colonialization and still maintains the dream of self rule. This is where the band derived its name and motivation to write lyrics that support individual choice and personal freedom.

The core driving force for this band is Caroline Cabading. The lyrics they throw at you pack a punch and Cabading is the perfect choice for delivering what they have to say. The music of The Autonomous Region ranges from tough and loud metal to soft and alluring pop with a strong jazz undercurrent rippling beneath. Any way you look at it this band rocks in every way and offers a unique sound and view of the world.

Backing Cabading on lead vocals is Chet Canlas (guitar), Tyrone Davis (drums), Phil Ergina (bass), and Ron Quesada (guitar). The band offers a bevy of original songs like the rocking “Don’t Tread on Me", a torch bearer for the political and social activist in us all, while offering up a classic cover of “White Rabbit,” which barely resembles the original. Even with a cover song they sound unique and eclectic, a rare quality for any band these days.

If you are tired of the cookie cutter pop smattered all over magazine covers and desire something fresh with an extra kick then The Forbidden City is the answer. Music has a way of translating through any barriers and The Autonomous Region have seemingly created their own niche in the world of indie music with their new release.
